Release Candidate

Version 7.0.01 – Compatible with OS400 V7R2M0 and above

Released – 8th April 2026

Cobwebb Communications Ltd. are proud to announce the latest Release Candidate [v7.0.01] of the Cobwebb Server Software.

This is the latest version and includes New Functionality, Enhancements and Fixes. For a full list, read What’s New in Cobwebb Document Management. This will be promoted to the Production Version once proven. Here are the highlights:

Highlights

  • New WRKCSBS command and menu option which allows you to work with all the jobs that normally run in the Cobwebb subsystem. It has the following functionality:
    • Display all the jobs that run in the Cobwebb subsystem even if the subsystem is not active
    • If the Cobwebb subsystem is active you have the following options:
      • Stop and Start individual jobs
      • Work with an individual active job
      • Change the switches for Test and Trace modes and / or the logging severity for an active job
    • Stop and Start the subsystem
    • Configure the jobs running in the system by pressing F18 to call CFGCSBS.
  • The Cobwebb Queue now allows for multiple attachments on an email. Up to now you have only been able to send email with multiple attachments directly to the SMTP Mail Server and not via the Cobwebb Queue. That has all changed, and you can now add additional attachments either by using the %A variable in the email Subject and retrieving the attachment file path(s) from the Cobwebb General Directory or by writing a Cobwebb Email Exit program.
  • New Exit programs:
    • COBPRTSTMF prints a file on the IFS or QNTC to an Output Queue on the IBM i.
    • COBCHKPATH validates a file path on the IFS or QNTC.
    • COBCOMPDAT compares two dates and returns GT, LT, or EQ depending on whether the From date is Greater Than, Less Than or Equal to the To date.
    • COBMULTATT sends an email to multiple recipients, including multiple attachments. The email is sent using the SNDPPDEML3 command which sends email directly to your SMTP Mail Server and not via the Cobwebb Queue. All the details for the email such as Subject, Message, Email Address etc. are populated using various parameters in the exit program.

Production Version

Version 6.2.88 – Compatible with OS400 V7R2M0 and above

Released – 18th December 2024

This is the recommended version for Production environments.

Highlights

  • New WRKHLDQ command to review held emails (by running a PPD in Test mode) and enter a different recipient email address & name, say your own, so that you can check if the attachment is correct. It will also remove any additional email addresses that may have been written to the Cobwebb Queue so that only one email is sent.
  • 5250 Users (green on black screen) can now use the F1 key, from the Cobwebb Server software, to directly display the relevant page in the online help.
  • New Advanced Reformatting Utility exit program ADVPREPAGE to pre-process details line. This can be useful if you have a varying number of lines for a specific Item in your spooled file and you want to keep them on the same page.
